Swedish Made Easy Terms and Conditions

Effective Date: 27 December 2024

Last Updated: 2 January 2025

These Terms and Conditions (‘T&C’) govern your participation in and access to the online courses (‘Course’ or ‘Courses’) and one-to-one private lessons (‘Lesson’ or ‘Lessons’) offered by Swedish Made Easy (‘we,’ ‘us,’ or ‘our’). By enrolling in or accessing the Course or booking Lessons, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.

Table of Contents

1. Course and Lesson Access and Participation

1.1 Scope of Access: Your purchase of our Services grants you a non-transferable, personal, and revocable license to access and participate in the selected Service(s), including but not limited to online courses, one-to-one private Lessons conducted via Zoom, and related materials. Your enrolment in any Service is non-transferable and cannot be assigned to another individual, except in the case of:
  • Gift Vouchers: Gift vouchers for one-to-one Lessons are transferable to the intended recipient as specified at the time of purchase.
  • Gifted Courses: Courses purchased as gifts may only be accessed by the recipient as designated at the time of purchase.

1.2
Time-Limited Access: The duration of access to each Course varies and depends on the specific terms outlined at the time of enrolment. Access periods are as follows unless otherwise stated:
  • For most Courses, access is granted for a minimum of 6 months from the date of enrolment. The exact access duration will be specified at the time of purchase and automatically managed through the Course platform.
  • Certain Courses may include extended or lifetime access, as explicitly stated at the time of purchase.
For Courses with lifetime access, we reserve the right to transition to a time-limited access model to align with updated business practices and policies. In such cases:
  • All currently enrolled students will retain access for a minimum period of 2 years from either their original date of enrolment or the date the updated policy is implemented, whichever is longer.
  • Students will be notified of the change at least 1 month in advance via email.
This approach ensures fairness for all students while enabling us to maintain and deliver high-quality, updated Course content.

1.3 Live Q&A Sessions (if applicable): For Courses that include live Q&A sessions:
  • These sessions may be recorded and made available to enrolled students as part of the Course materials.
  • Participation in live Q&A sessions is optional, and students may choose to attend with their camera and/or microphone turned off.

1.4
Respectful Conduct: Students are expected to maintain respectful and professional behaviour in all interactions within the Course or Lesson environment, including live sessions and community discussions. Disruptive, abusive, or hostile behaviour may result in unenrolment as outlined in Section 7.

2. Specific Terms for One-to-One Lessons

2.1 Lesson Packages and Expiry

  • Single Lessons: Single Lessons must be booked and paid for upfront and are subject to the cancellation policy outlined in Section 2.3.
  • Discount Packages: Lessons purchased as part of a discount package must be scheduled and used before the package expiry date, which will be stated at the time of purchase. It is the student’s responsibility to keep track of the expiry date.
  • Unused Lessons from an expired package cannot be refunded, rescheduled, or carried forward.

2.2 Payment

  • All Lessons and Lesson packages must be paid for upfront at the time of purchase.

2.3 Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

  • Students may cancel or reschedule a Lesson by providing at least 48 hours’ notice via email.
  • Cancellations or rescheduling requests made less than 48 hours before the scheduled Lesson will not be refunded or rescheduled.
  • Lessons cancelled by the teacher will always be rescheduled or refunded.

2.4 Copyright and Intellectual Property

All materials shared during one-to-one Lessons, including but not limited to teaching notes, exercises, and resources, are the exclusive intellectual property of Swedish Made Easy and are subject to the copyright terms outlined in Section 2.

  • Full Payment for Courses: The total Course fee is paid upfront at the time of enrolment.
  • Payment Plans for Courses: If a payment plan is offered, students agree to make all scheduled payments as outlined during the enrolment process.
  • For Discount Lesson Packages: Payments cover all Lessons included in the package, and any unused Lessons from an expired package cannot be refunded or rescheduled.

Payment Plans for Courses – Important Details
  1. Failed Payments:
    • If a payment on your payment plan fails, the Course platform (Teachable) will attempt to process the payment again on the 3rd, 7th, and 14th day after the initial authorization request.
    • You will receive a notification regarding the failed payment, and you are responsible for updating your payment method promptly.
    • If your payment is not authorized within this time frame, Teachable will automatically unenroll you from the Course.
    • In the event of failed payment attempts, access to the Course may be suspended until outstanding balances are resolved.
  2. Responsibility for Full Course Fee: By enrolling in a payment plan, you agree to pay the full Course fee, even if you stop accessing the Course before completing all scheduled payments.
  3. Payment Method Validity: It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that their payment method remains valid and up to date throughout the duration of the payment plan.
  4. Suspension or Termination of Access: If payments are not completed, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Course.
Important Notes
  • Payment Plans are not an ongoing subscription but a payment plan for the specific Course you selected at enrolment.
  • If you are unenrolled due to failed payments, you may contact us to resolve the issue and reinstate access, subject to our discretion.

4.2 Refund Policy
Refunds for Lessons or Lesson packages will only be provided under the following conditions:
  • The teacher cancels and is unable to reschedule a lesson.

Refunds will not be provided for Lessons cancelled by the student less than 48 hours before the scheduled time or for expired package lessons. Refunds for Courses will be provided only in accordance with our refund policy, as stated on the Course enrolment page. If you have made partial payments through a payment plan, refunds will be provided only for payments already completed, in accordance with our refund policy. Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing to anneli@swedishmadeeasy.com.

This applies to all forms of communication, including live Q&A sessions, written posts in community forums, or messages outside the Course/Lesson platform (e.g., via email or social media).
  • Publicly shaming, mocking, or undermining other students in any form, including comments made in the community forum, that foster a hostile or uncomfortable learning environment.
  • Persistent negative or disparaging comments that undermine the integrity or purpose of the Course/Lessons or create an unfriendly atmosphere.
  • Harassment or criticism directed towards students’ personal choices, such as but not limited to, their level of participation or whether they choose to use video during live Q&A sessions.
  • Non-Disparagement Clause: Students agree not to publicly disparage or make false statements about the Course, Lessons, the Course creator, Lesson teacher or other students. This includes but is not limited to social media posts, online reviews, or community forum discussions. Constructive feedback or concerns should be communicated directly and privately to the Course creator or Lesson teacher.

7.2 Confidentiality of Community Discussions

Students are expected to maintain the confidentiality of any discussions or information shared within the Course community, including live Q&A sessions, one-to-one Lessons, and community forums. Sharing or distributing sensitive or personal information shared by others without their consent is strictly prohibited and may result in immediate unenrolment or termination of service.

7.3 Breach of T&C

Any violation of these T&C, including the copyright policy in Section 3, may result in immediate unenrolment without refund.

7.4 Refunds Upon Unenrolment

Refunds for unenrolled students will be provided only at our discretion and in accordance with Section 4.2.

8. Limitation of Liability

We are not liable for any damages, losses, or claims arising from your use of the Course content, including technical issues, interruptions, or dissatisfaction with the Course or Lessons. We are not liable for issues arising from third-party platforms, such as Zoom or Teachable, including but not limited to technical malfunctions or payment processing errors. We are not responsible for data loss or access issues caused by factors beyond our control, including platform outages. Our total liability is limited to the amount paid for the Course or Lessons.

9. Amendments to These T&C

We reserve the right to update these T&C at any time. Students will be notified of significant changes via email at least 30 days before implementation. Continued participation in the Course or Lessons after the effective date of the changes constitutes acceptance of the updated T&C.
